Winging It

So far, two very important team functions have occurred, one much more important than the other.

The first was a light practice on Tuesday night, which was held at the same time as Day Two of the Rookie League title game, which is now a two-day extravaganza sort of like a cricket match. As you can see, it was a very intense practice:

On Wednesday, 10U Blue really got down to business: eating wings. Well, some people ate wings. Some people didn't. Not that I am bitter. It's just that I didn't realize I was ordering breakfast wings.

Oh, right, the team meal. It consisted of two parts: one part was the wing-eating contest among the players. One of the highlights of that particular segment of the evening was that it enabled the players to roam the restaurant begging for money asking for customers to bet on them. I really can't wait until the first tournament when an opposing fan mumbles something about how West Raleigh runs a gambling ring. There were (I think) co-champions of the wing eating contest. One was the favorite, although he had to eat one-handed:

And the other was an unexpected challenger, the Quiet Assassin, who was his usual surly self:

After the wing eating contest, all some a few of the parents began to get their food. As Giovanna indicated here, the estimated wait time was five hours:

The first full practice of the summer will be Thursday night outdoors at West Raleigh, weather permitting.
